Hey Boo Hey! Monday mornings always start off slow for me and I’ve been trying to think of a remedy to kick the week off in high gear. One thing that always puts a little extra pep in my step is a cute outfit! As I’ve gotten older I’ve been trying to make a conscience effort to put more money into quality work clothes hence the reason I was so excited when I learned about Universal Standard’s new workwear collection. They recently released a 13-piece collection of sharp, sophisticated workwear for the modern woman, and yall it is SO good. Universal Standard has completely done away with the misconception that your work clothes have to be boring and consist of nothing more that oxford shirts and pencil skirts. Who said the office is off limits for displaying my impeccable fashion sense? If I want to feel like I’m walking down a runway when I’m walking to the copier then let me!
Now lets get into my look for today. Choosing which pieces I wanted to try first from this amazing collection was a tough decision to make. They have everything from blazers to cardigans to dresses to skirts. After narrowing down my choices I decided on this chic top and skirt combo. The Abigail top is a modern top that is perfect for work. It has a soft, matte feel on the outside and a silky feeling on the inside that makes it very comfortable to wear for the entire day. My favorite feature of this top is the cascading panel on the front that puts a modern twist on your normal work blouse and makes its stylish enough to wear for after work drinks. As much as I love this top, I think I fancy the skirt even more. This AHR Apron skirt was made specifically for me! I tend to shy away from straight cut skirts because of all the weight I carry in my midsection, but the chic apron front on this skirt hides my problem area all while keeping me stylish and giving a classic yet modern feel. This skirt also has a discreet elastic waistband and hidden pockets. Can it seriously get any better than that? I paired the look with my mid heel work pumps and a cute pair of statement earrings.
Style Guide: Everything I purchased was true size. I got both the top and the skirt in a medium, which is a size 18-20.
