Double Dose of Denim

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last few month, you’ve seen a plethora of denim pieces everywhere you go. I’m not talking about your regular ole skinny jeans either! I mean dresses, tunics, skirts, even heels! Your possibilities are endless. Celebrities are even partaking in the denim overload trend. Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and Kanye West have all been spotted sporting the look. .

When I saw this shirt in my local Rainbow (sold out, similar here),  I immediately grabbed it. The side slits gave it personality, and the length helped to cover any problem areas. As a general rule, lighter shades of denim draw attention to the body parts they cover, while darker washes create a slimming effect. For many women this means that dark denim jeans, and a lighter denim top or jacket is the most flattering way to go.I paired the top with my new favorite skinnies from Fashion to Figure . These jeggings are so comfortable, and the elasticized waist surely won me over!  These are the first jeans I’ve bought from them, and I will definitely be going back for more. I passed on my usual choice of large earrings, and went with a statement necklace (I snagged this necklace at Walmart for 5 bucks!), along with some simple nude pumps.Don’t be afraid to elevate your outfit with luxe-looking items including statement heels and jewelry, a tuxedo blazer, or a fabulous red lip. This look is great for a summer date night or a fun dinner with my girls.
